With knowledge comes understanding and with understanding comes the ability to make better choices. Understanding underlying causes and effects will help us to establish our Simple Disciplines. It will also clearly establish for us, the times, when we are making Slight Errors in Judgment.
Knowledge will help us exclude blame from our lives and give us the ability to take total responsibility for what's going on.
Caloric consumption, comes from the things you ingest during the day, foods and liquids.
Carbohydrates contain 4 calories per gram
Protein contains 4 calories per gram
Fats contain 9 calories per gram
Alcohol contains 7 calories per gram
Fiber is inert and contains no calories
All sugars whether they be glucose (Simple white sugar), sucrose, fructose (Fruit-based), or galactose (Vegetable-based) are all carbohydrates. The effect they have on our health depends upon how fast they are absorbed into our bloodstream. However, one type does not contain more calories than another. Hi fructose corn syrup is a more concentrated form of sugar.
A can of soda, containing 44 g of sugar (11 teaspoons), as there are 4 g per teaspoon would contain 176 calories. To expand that, 176 calories would require you to spend approximately two hours in bed at night (BMR) or to run 2 miles in approximately 24 minutes, to get rid of those calories.
Unless you are an Olympic athlete training eight hours a day you will probably expend only 1500 -2200 calories in a normal day.

If you are a 200 pound individual, this would be two thirds of your daily calorie input, in one meal, and we haven't included the soda.
When it comes to losing weight, reducing caloric consumption is the best way to have that happen.
Losing weight via exercise can be a very daunting task. First, most individuals do not realize how few calories get expended through exercise. To burn 550 calories you would have to walk for 144 minutes. (2 hours 24 minutes) Most individuals have a hard time exercising more than 30 minutes a day.
